For the people of Castile in the headlands of the Duero river, the name Numancia conjures up the heroic resistance over 2,100 years ago against overwhelming roman legions. For 20 years the People of Numancia held out against the Romans. Tinta de Toro vines in like manner resisted the assault of the Phylloxera 100 years ago and we have selected the name Numanthia for our wine to commemorate this parallelheroism.
