Don Juan Carlos Graffigna, an Italian immigrant, began his humble winemaking activity in 1869 in the province of San Juan. The vision of this pioneer and his love of the noble activity of winemaking mastered by his ancestors, continued by the dedication of his successors, resulted in the modern agro-industrial complex of today. Bodegas y Viñedos Santiago Graffigna S.A. occupies a prominent place within the Argentine winemaking industry and has become one of the emblems proudly shown by the Province of San Juan. The company owns two modern wineries and vineyards located very close to the Andes Mountains, one in San Juan and the other in Mendoza (San Rafael). Both are totally devoted to the production of fine quality wines. San Juan is characterised by excellent sunshine, scarce rainfall and very low humidity, which results in complex and powerful Malbecs.
